Hughesville Locals Sept. 12, 2018
Mother Nature has really overdone it with the liquid precipitation lately. I hope that the amount of rain we’re getting now will not continue into the cold weather and result in large amounts of snow! I love to have snow cover for most of the winter months, but a few inches at a time will suffice. Of course, there is no way to know what’s coming, so we will, as my uncle used to say, “take what we get.”
This weekend we have many choices of events taking place in the area. One of the most visibly exciting is the Rotary Balloon Fest, beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sat. Sept. 15 at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds. I love to watch the balloons rising and floating above the trees and across our valley. It’s a lot of fun to visit all the displays and vendors who will be ready for everyone to come out and enjoy the day.
Another annual event is the Pennsylvania Bowhunters Festival at the Sullivan County Fairgrounds, from Friday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Packed with events for archers of all ages, vendors, and lots of great food items, it’s a great way to spend some time in the cool region along the Loyalsock Creek.
