Congratulations to Spencer L. Cotner, of Muncy. Backed by the plastics industry, he was one of 7 students from Penn College who attended the 34th annual Blow Molding Conference in Pittsburgh.

Also congratulations to Alivia Renee Heivly, daughter of Krissy and Jeremie Heivly of Muncy as being one of 27 candidates for the 70th Flaming Foliage Festival queens in Renovo this past weekend. Her escort was Coleman Good and Alivia plans on majoring in Early Childhood Education.

A bill has been introduced in Washington known as the Senior Scams Prevention Act to train company employees to help stop financial frauds and scams befallen upon many seniors. They hope to establish a federal advisory council to develop educational materials on how to “spot a scam.”

STEP is collecting mittens, gloves, scarves, hats and winter apparel for Head Start children until December 14. Their goal is to collect 700 pairs of mittens, up from 600 of last year. To donate an item which should be new, handmade or store bought, and sized for children from infant to five years of age, take them to the STEP Main Office at 2138 Lincoln Street, Williamsport.
