Chorale clings to tradition while adding new twists
MUNCY The West Branch Chorale will again usher in the music of the holidays with new and familiar songs. The group, directed by Shirley Smith, has been practicing tireless to entertain their audiences.
New this year will be a 20-voice youth choir accompanied on the violin by Brie Myers of Muncy. They will perform “Away in a Manger,” said to be the second most popular Christmas song.
A spoof on the ever popular “Twelve Days of Christmas” is guaranteed to evoke chuckles. Vocalists will be pared in various groups acting out the lyrics. Accompanied by Joy Barto, among the specials will be Jackie Whitmoyer, Adie Cierpke, Jen Rice, Bonnie Horn, Carol Hill, Julie Souter, Wayne Weisel, Thomas Secules, John Libbey and Bob Bowman.
Audience participation will give opportunity for guests to raise their voices in song. Be aware, the group is seeking new members. Director Smith says, “See you at the concert and bring a friend.”
Concert dates, times and locations are as follows: Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, East Penn Street, Muncy. Please NOTE NEW LOCATION for the second session to be held at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 369 Broad Street, Montoursville on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.
