Hughesville Locals Jan. 31, 2019
Snowy, blustery, cold weather has become the settled pattern lately. The rain-soaked snow of last week didn’t get a chance to melt away before the latest storm brought another layer, so we have an interesting deep freeze going on. Please keep an eye on things like exhaust ports for furnaces and intake vents for other household appliances, making sure that snow is not blocking anything. Also, if there is a fire hydrant near your home, please make sure that the area around it is cleared. If the fire company needs to use water quickly, we don’t want them to have to spend time trying to find the hydrant under a snowbank!
It’s hard to believe that the winter sports seasons for high school athletes are nearing their end! The wrestling team is now preparing for District Meets and the first Sectional matches are only another week away. Come out and support our Spartan wrestlers as they compete for a spot in these advanced contests. Both the Boys and Girls basketball teams have their final regular games on February 11, so there is still time to catch them in action. Our Indoor Track team is also engaged in competitive meets and in improving their skills and setting new personal-best times and distances. It’s amazing to see how many of our teens are involved in these activities and also in band, chorus, and theater.
