Hughesville Locals Feb. 6, 2019
Punxsutawney Phil says we’re going to have an early spring, and I haven’t heard too many of my acquaintances express any regret. I think the winter has been rather odd, with the snowstorm in November, then an open and mild December, followed by a January that most of us don’t want to repeat. The Polar Vortex is a meteorological phenomenon that I prefer to only read about, not experience. Of course, I don’t think it is rational to hope for a gradual transition from winter to spring, so I expect that “Ol’ Man Winter” will make some more appearances before we see the end of March.
The Hughesville Rotary Club had a “Murder Mystery Dinner Theater” last weekend that turned out to be a very effective fund-raiser for the club’s civic projects. The event was so well-received and fun that I believe we can look forward to more such entertainments. Tickets for this event sold out soon after they became available, so we will all have to watch carefully for the next opportunity! Rotary provides funding for many local events and plans to purchase new Christmas lighting for the downtown. Their next major event will be the Annual Pig Roast in May. Watch for details throughout the spring.
Valentine’s Day is next week, so be sure to make your reservations or orders soon, so you won’t be disappointed!
