Montgomery Locals Mar. 13, 2019

By Staff | Mar 14, 2019

Members of the Montgomery Red Raider Band showed off their cooking and hospitality skills last Saturday as they hosted a spaghetti dinner and basket raffle fundraiser at the Brick Church. Band parents also participated in the event by helping out in the kitchen. Guests were greeted with big smiles and hearty thanks for supporting the band. The members range from grades seven through twelve and were raising money for a trip to perform in Williamsburg, Virginia in May. The three-day trip will include two performances, one in Williamsburg and one in front of Busch Gardens. The group is looking forward to the trip, and Drum Major Whitney Bolden said, “We’re all very excited about it.” In addition to performing, they will have some time for some additional activities, including a ghost tour and some go-carting.

It sounds like the month of May is going to be a busy one for our town’s musically talented young people. Every year for decades the band has performed in the Memorial Day Parade and Service, which will be a few weeks after the band returns.

THOT – “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Socrates

Loads of happy birthday wishes go to Addison Heasley, who will be turning fifteen on March 15. Have a wonderful year, Addi!
