Hughesville Locals Mar. 27, 2019
While Punxsutawney Phil foresaw an early Spring, I don’t think the past week has met my expectations. We haven’t had significant snowfall but the temperatures haven’t made me eager to put any winter gear away. I still want my scarf and mittens, much as I hate to put them on when I think of the date. Late March “should” be a time for Spring jackets and ankle socks, right? Instead, I am still wearing layers and turtlenecks. Will this be another one of those years when we go straight from woolens to flip-flops? I prefer a steady progression of warming temperatures, but, as always, we’ll take what we get!
HHS student-athletes are beginning their Spring Sports competitive seasons. Baseball, Softball, Boys Tennis, Track, and Junior High Soccer for both boys and girls, are all underway. There will be many opportunities for you to cheer for your favorite Spartan athletes at games and matches from now until mid-May. Pick up a copy of the Spring Sports schedule or check with the district website for up-to-date info. Rainy days will play havoc with game schedules, so check back often for any make-up games.
The north end of Main Street has undergone quite a transformation over the past two weeks, and more changes are occurring daily. The reconstructed intersection should provide a real improvement to traffic flow. I do expect that there will be some confusion as the project takes place, so please be aware of changing patterns and potential flaggers and/or directional signs. Let’s keep everyone safe as this long-term improvement unfolds.
