It’s time to get the kids signed up for summer camp! The ELYMCA has dates available starting June 10th and ending August 23rd. Scholarships are available and fees include field trips, breakfast and a snack. Just ask for Amanda, child care director at the ELYMCA. Teen campers will assist in mentoring the younger campers as well as participate in community service activities.

I was able to take a painting lesson over the weekend with local artist, Amanda Emig. She has been offering painting lessons at various organizations and non-profits. Last week she held one at Church of Resurrection in Muncy and also one for the SPCA. She donates a percentage of her proceeds to the cause so if you are thinking of doing some painting, just gather some friends or a group (minumum of ten) and Amanda will supply everything you need. I did a quilt art painting, and it was very relaxing and she was so helpful and encouraging. You can reach Amanda at the James V. Brown Library.
We celebrate Earth week with some plantings and spring bulbs. Be sure to catch one of the workshops with the Master Gardeners at their garden sight on County Farm Road. They are available to help you with any questions about your garden, the soil, pests and diseases. Saturday mornings is a good time to catch them working in the county garden. Plant a flower or two, or put some colorful flowers in containers and place in front of your house for added curb appeal.

I took 3 of my grandchildren to an Easter egg hunt in Wolf Township on Saturday afternoon. I was so amazed at the number of volunteers and the work put into this amazing time. Every child got a basket full of eggs filled with goodies, a wrapped basket with toys, snacks, pizza, drinks and decorated cupcakes. What a neighborhood (McConnell Drive) and what a group of people. There were thousands and thousands of colorful plastic eggs, twenty thousand they said, were all stuffed. I discovered this prized event from a local parent and many said it was on social media. Over 500 children were registered, and it was a free event that put lots and lots of smiles on faces. The event was an honor to the late Steve Harkins and Jamie Houseknecht and all other “loved ones now in the arms of Jesus.” Both lost their lives at a very early age over the Easter season, and this has been a traditional event for the past five years.
