Muncy Locals May 22, 2019

By Staff | May 22, 2019

Lots has happened this past week and much more is coming ahead with the Memorial weekend holiday, graduations, alumni banquets and summer programs at local parks.

Muncy performed in the 2019 Jazz Festival sponsored by the Lycoming County Band Directors Association last Monday night at the Williamsport High School auditorium. They played four songs including “Welcome to the Jungle” and Bye Bye Blackbird.”

This is Home Fire Sprinkler Week (May 19-25) and the Fire Sprinkler Initiative, a partnership with NFPA and Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, is promoting the use of home fire sprinklers to tackle the rising problem of home fires and underscore their life savig impact.

The Muncy Garden Club is getting ready to prepare the flower arrangements for the Muncy Alumni Banquet which is an annual event held the fourth weekend in May. They also did some community plantings over the weekend at the cemetery and the library.

Just a reminder that due to the upcoming Memorial Day holiday the Luminary will be delivered on Thursday, May 30th.

Scamming is getting worse and there are so many tricky ways that one can get deceived by these cons. Many warnings are out there for us. I see numbers I don’t recognize coming to my cell phone and I was told to the best thing to do is “delete”. Just about every day we are being besieged by some kind of scam. Hackers cause disruption and destruction. The best defense against these hackers is yourself – to be educated and aware. A good website I found for advice and resources is www.protectseniorsonline.com/resources.

It is now a happy time for weather, unpreidictable, but warmer and safe to plant those vegetables.

Happy Memorial Day!
