Muncy Locals June 12, 2019
Impressive is the best word I can come up with for this past week of activities. If you haven’t checked out the new Ollie’s store at Lycoming Mall, it is worth a visit. There are seasonal items, tools, paint, household goods, and great looking rugs. Pier 1 is closing and I checked out some of their discounted items, and found 3 chair cushions for the back patio.
My 3 year old grandson won a goldfish at the Hughesville carnival (what parent hasn’t gone through the goldfish experience), and so we had to look around a bit for fish food and a fish bowl. Question is – how long will it live?
This month presents the first day of summer and the Muncy Hospital is hosting some special events. On June 11 there was a resident family picnic at the Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the annual Muncy Lawn Party will be held on June 22. Sunday presented an open house at the new Muncy Heritage room. This is the new name for the medical conference and meeting room in the lower level of the hospital. The committee did a tremendous job dressing up the empty walls in the room with some great photos of physicians who have worked there for a very long time. I was able to meet some descendants of the founding physicians along with Dr. Kim and his wife Judy. Dr. Kim’s patents were framed and there were some interesting displays of medical equipment used from the 20s. I enjoyed meeting new people, and another open house is being planned for the fall. Meanwhile, more artifacts are welcome if you should have any that you would like to put on loan for the display.
On Monday the Muncy Library kicked off its summer reading program. Students can sign up to read books to earn prizes for this year’s space theme which will include special guests and an entire universe of stories. The program ends August 16.
Happy reading! ??
