Montgomery Locals June 26, 2019

By Staff | Jun 26, 2019

Montgomery has a new charity called The Good Steward that has been co-founded by Blair Steward and Marissa Rojas. “Our mission is to bring awareness to the needs of everyday living for women and children at the Wise Options Center,” according to The Good Steward’s official Facebook page.

They have placed a donation barrel in Cole’s Coffee, Craft, and Consignment, located at 10 South Main Street in Montgomery. The community is invited to place items in The Good Steward barrel which is delivered to Wise Options every week. The Good Steward focuses on providing for the physical needs of women and children who have been threatened or abused and are currently living in a shelter.

Blair commented, “It’s very rewarding to see the response from the town. I knew we’d see some love but the barrel has been full every week.” Marissa agreed, “Honestly, what I enjoy most is seeing how many people participate in providing donations for the charity. It’s wonderful to see how many people we have reached and helped so far and I hope to continue being able to provide weekly donations.”

If you would like to make a donation, Blair said the shelter is currently most in need of towels and extra long twin bed sheets. He also said that there is an ongoing need for hygiene products.

Items can be dropped off at Coles Coffee, Craft, and Consignment during business hours.

THOT “I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.” Stephen Grellet.
