Hughesville Locals July 31, 2019

By Staff | Jul 31, 2019

Summer is so spectacular when we have days like this! It’s hot, but that’s what it takes to get me ready for the opposite season which I shall not name. This season is passing at an alarmingly fast pace and I don’t want to think of it coming to an end. We are turning the calendar page to the last month of summer and I know I need to squeeze the most out of every day.

Trinity Lutheran and The Beacon United Methodist churches were the scene of many fun hours last week when dozens of children and adults enjoyed an exciting week of Bible School! It was a great collaborative effort and Mother Nature helped out with perfect weather for the five-day event.

I have noticed many construction and renovation projects around the borough and while I’m sure the heat and high humidity are not comfortable for those who must work outdoors, things appear to be progressing well and changes are apparent. I don’t often indulge in taking a walk up or down Main Street, but I have seen some welcome improvements along that thoroughfare.

Among the fairs and festivals still to come in this area of the state is the Eagles Mere Arts and Crafts Festival. Held on the Green in the center of the village, this is a wonderful exhibit of a wide variety of high-quality artistic creations. It’s usually a bit less “muggy” there at over 2000 feet above sea level, so be sure to check it out!
