School officially begins for students this week in the Muncy School District, due to ongoing renovations occurring at the high school. Last Thursday a very large delivery in the form of a walkway bridge trestle frame arrived at the site via truck. It was hoisted by crane and set into place, connecting the second story of the existing building to the new gymnasium/media center.
Congratulations are in order for the following members of the Muncy Area Volunteer Fire Company, who graduated Aug. 10 from the Pennsylvania College of Technology: Captain Mat Post with a degree in Nursing, and Mark Blanchard and Sara Caswell with degrees as a Paramedic.
A most notable happy anniversary wish to David and Joanie Wallis, who observe 60 years of marriage on Friday, Sept. 6.
The first Saturday of each month, learn a free dance lesson from 6:40-7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church’s Celebration Centr, 602 South Market Street, Muncy. This month it’s held Sept. 7. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., danc music is from 7-10 p.m. Soda, water and light snacks are provided. Bring a snack to share. Suggested donation is $5 per person.
Camp Victory, a special camp for special kids, is hosting a community open house on Sunday, Sept. 8, from noon to 5 p.m. Camp Victory is located at 58 Camp Victory Road, Millville.
An axe-throwing event is scheduled at the new Ritz Complex, 9 North Main Street, Muncy on Friday, Sept. 20, 7-10 p.m. Our friends from the Hatchet House will be there to demonstrate and supply equipment. There is a cost.
Once-in-a-lifetime celebration of Muncy Farms 250th anniversary, Saturday, Sept. 21, noon to 6 p.m. Park at Lycoming Mall and ride free shuttle to and from the property. There is a small cost.
The 12th annual Corvettes on Main Street car show is returning on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tails on the Trail, a 2-mile nature walk with or without your dog in the hills of Pennsdale is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 13. The event is hosted by Trinity Farm, 748 Quaker Church Road. Registration begins at noon and the walk begins at 12:30 p.m. Afterwards, enjoy food, vendors, music and hayrides. There is an entry fee, register at www.lycomingspca.org/tailsonthetrail.
