It’s always satisfying to learn about Muncy alumni who, in one way or another, who remember the values taught at “Dear Old Muncy” and “pay it forward.” Two such alums are Vicki Thompson-Hess and Tammy Avery Weber.

Starting a grand new adventure, Vicki has been notably associated with the Lycoming County Library system since the early 1980s. Vicki’s new venue is Little Bears Daycare/preschool in Hughesville. Artistic in multiple areas, Vicki will continue to implement art, music, and books to young’uns at Little Bears. Congratulations and best wishes, Vicki!

Our newspaper this week features Tammy, who is featured on pg. 3 with a column which may interest the “Sandwich generation.” What might they be, you ask? Typically in their thirties or forties, the monniker refers to those responsible for bringing up their own children and for the care of their aging parents. Tammy, a 1979 graduate, is a Certified Elder Law Attorney, a title held by less than 60 attorneys in Pennsylvania. The Luminary is most pleased to be publishing her column.

Looking for a scary good time as Halloween approaches? The Pennsdale haunted barn returns the last three Saturdays-Oct. 12, 19 and 26 beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m. The event is located at 261 Village Road, and is a fundraiser for the Pennsdale Volunteer Fire Company.

If you’re wanting to view the fall foliage this weekend, why not travel to Trout Run for the Sixth Annual Fall into the Arts Lake Fest? The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 939 Trimble Road, Trout Run, overlooking Rose Valley Lake in the Pine Creek Valley and the PA Grand Canyon landscape of the Pennsylvania Wilds. Admission is free. The event will feature a diverse gathering of fine art and fine craft artisans from across the region, including blown and torch-worked glass, handcrafted stoneware pottery, fiber art, jewelry, oil and watercolor painting, photography, herbal salves, drawings, sculptures, scratch board art and much more.

Friday, Oct. 11, 5-8 p.m., is K-6 Kids Cardio Night dance-a-thon at Ward L. Myers Elementary School.

Oct. 14-17 is Parent/Grandparent/Special Guest Lunch Week at Ward L. Myers Elementary School.

Friday, Oct. 18: Homecoming Parade, forms at 5 p.m., launches at 5:30 p.m. Homecoming festivities follow in Schuyler Stadium; Muncy plays Sayre at 7 p.m.

Monday, Oct. 21, Muncy School Board of Directors meeting, 7 p.m. in the Elementary Cafetorium.

Son Light House, Senior food distribution, 130 Carpenter St., Muncy, Wednesday Oct. 16 8:30-noon and Thursday, Oct. 17 4-7 p.m. Hours for donations are every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. 7-10 a.m., food, clean usable seasonable clothing, toys, and furniture only at this time.
