Muncy Locals 1.8.2020
Overall, I’m pretty satisfied being female, but there are a more than a few drawbacks. For instance, the major pay inequality that remains in place even in the 21st century is a disgrace. A second example: after interviewing Norman Kobbe last fall regarding the Montgomery Lions Club and their annual sauerkraut production, another gap became apparent. Then, this past Saturday I spoke with a few members of the Muncy Area Lions Club during their annual fundraiser. Both groups contain jovial, good-natured, community-minded gentlemen who enjoy themselves at every function and fundraiser. I enquired about the female adaptation of the Lions, known as the Lioness Club, and was informed that no Muncy area chapter had been established, and that Montgomery’s chapter disbanded. Imagine my delight to discover while writing this column that women are indeed permitted to join Lions Clubs throughout the world! Now to narrow down which chapter to join-there are so many active clubs in southeastern Lycoming County to take into considerationdecisions, decisions!
