JADE HEASLEY/The Luminary These kids enjoyed playing in "snow" at the Montgomery Area Public Library's Construction Club, a group is for children in Pre-K through 5th grade. They worked together to create an iceberg for a group of toy penguins to inhabit, among numerous other items. Seated from left: Madison Buck, Kendra Emery and Lance Canter. Standing: Violet Preitz.

The Montgomery Area Public Library is home to the Construction Club, an activity group for ages pre-K through fifth grade. At their most recent meeting, the children played with “snow” in the library. The “snow” was a form of powdery dough and the children happily gathered around a kiddie pool to use sand toys, toy penguins, and mini vehicles to play in the “snow.” The children had a blast working together to create a giant iceberg that they covered in toy penguins, and they enjoyed free play where they got to make their own smaller creations.

Each Construction Club meeting is tailored to the kids in attendance so they can have activities appropriate to the varying ages. Different types of building toys are used at each meeting. Children are given a challenge to complete together and also have free play to be creative on their own or by working in smaller groups. If you have a child in the right age range, bring them to the once a month Construction Club meeting. They will be sure to have a great time!
