The Montgomery Area Alumni Association has announced that they are canceling this year’s Alumni Banquet that was scheduled for June to keep all of their members safe. However, they will honor the 25th reunion of the class of 1995 and the 50th reunion of the class of 1970 at next year’s banquet which will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
The Alumni Association will award three scholarships in the amount of $1,500 and The Margaret Stolz Scholarship in the amount of $600 to members of the Class of 2020. Some of these scholarships were partially funded by a financial gift from the Class of 1970.

Brush pickup for sticks and limbs less than four inches in diameter will be done on Wednesdays for Montgomery residents who have requested it in advance by calling the Borough Office at (570) 547-1671. Residents can also drop off sticks at limbs at the brush pile on Wednesdays only. At this time only sticks and limbs are accepted; grass, weeds, leaves, etc. are not.
The Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company is planning on holding the carnival later this year when it’s deemed safe.
The Montgomery Area Public Library offers e-books that can be downloaded on a variety of internet capable devices from their website at www.montgomerylib.org. You can also follow them on Facebook for content and links to appeal to all ages, as well a page called Miss Nicole’s MAPL Moments where library director Nicole Loffredo makes videos and provides activities for children. The library remains closed until further notice.
The Montgomery Area Historical Society is asking local residents to keep a journal of your experiences living through the quarantine and how this situation has affected your life. They will be collected when restrictions are lifted and put in a time capsule that will be sealed for fifty years.
Please keep your donations for Community Aid until further notice. The bins aren’t being tended to until after the shutdown is over.
