When the movie, Jaws, was released over the summer of 1975, half of my siblings and I went to see the blockbuster movie, which was booked at the UA movie theater in Loyalsock Township, where the Rite-Aid pharmacy now exists. The line of movie-goers stretched out of the front doors and around two sides of the building. We somehow managed to gain admission and watched the thriller elbow-to-elbow with hundreds in the audience. At some point, the movie was paused, the curtain dropped and the lights flickered on, as no one was purchasing concessions. Once the quota had been met, the film resumed, as did our terror.
Although it won’t be quite the same experience as it was 45 years ago, the Montgomery Pike Drive In is featuring a special showing of Jaws June 19-21. Tickets can be purchased online or at the cashbox. Show begins at dusk!
