Dec. 12, 1873

The Keystone boys have named their new fire truck, “Joshua” after Mr .Joshua Bouman, who has been one of the fire company’s most liberal friends.

George Wenrich was found guilty of murder in the second degree at Middlesburg, Snyder County, on Friday last, for the killing of Dr. Wagonseller, of Selinsgove.

Dec. 21, 1923

A motor car driven by a Scranton traveling man enroute from Scranton to Muncy went over a bank near the old covered bridge on the Clarkstown-Opp road. The driver was uninjured.

Tony Capello, of Lock Haven , was formally charged Saturday evening with the murder of Elizabeth Harley, aged fourteen, whose body was found on a street in that city on the night of Dec. 1st.

Ralph “Butch” Feigles and Ronald “Ronnie” Feigles were elected co-captions for the championship football team of 1952.

The Rev. IvanL.Miller, pastor of the Montgomery Methodist Church for the past five years, has been appointed lieutenant in the U.S. Navy reserve chaplain corps.

At an informal ceremony, Elsie Woodward and Frank Berger, both of Muncy, were married on Thursday at the at the home of the bride.

Miss Roselise D. Holmes, Muncy, will be married in St. James church on Dec. 27 to Harold A. Wilkinson.

Dec. 21, 1922

Negotiations for the sale of the Hughesville Furniture Company, under way for over a month, were completed last Friday when the entire holdings of the company were purchased by Walter M. Engel, of New York City. He has announced that the consideration involved was approximately $300,000. The company’s officers were elected as follows: Walter M. Engel, President; Vivian H. Clifford, of Hughesville, vice-president; Zella A. Moyer, of Hughesville, Secretary. These officers, together with Charles W, Reeder, of Hughesville, S.K. Haupt and Carl A. Schug, of Williamsport, who was named counsel of the company, will constitute the new board of directors. Mr. Clifford, vice-president, is a certified public accountant with several years’ experience in the furniture business and connected with the Hughesville company for about 18 months. Zella A. Moyer, who was retained as Secretary in the new company, has been with the Hughesville company in that capacity for about 26 years. Dr. and Mrs. I.T. Gilmore of Picture Rocks, entertained at a roast goose dinner at their home on Saturday evening. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Springer on Friday, December 15, a son. Miss Pauline Montgomery and Earlsey Montgomery, of Tivoli, were callers in this place Tuesday. Mrs. Harry Corson and daughter, Anna Margaret, spent a few days at Washington D.C, and will spend Christmas with her mother and sisters at Philadelphia. Lady Hughes Rebekah lodge No. 21 , will hold a Christmas party at the hall this Thursday evening. All members are required to bring a gift. Refreshments will be served.
