By Staff | Dec 15, 2009

Kay Horner and Sharon Dapp from the Shopper office sort donations for baskets for Santa's Senior program.

Holidays are filled with festivities and the Shopper Office is fortunate to announce that it’s almost filled to the brim with donations for Santa’s Seniors. But there’s still time to bring in a donation. The deadline is noon on Friday, December 18. Suggestions for gifts that are now being accepted are puzzles, lotions, candy and chocolates, teas and hot chocolate, blanket throws, socks, slippers, scarves, hats and gloves, Items can be dropped off at the Shopper Office on Route 405 in Hughesville anytime between 8:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Once everything is donated, gift baskets will be made and over 400 meals on wheels recipients will receive a Christmas basket. Helminiak’s Greenhouse has agreed to donate a pointsettia for every senior and Weis Markets will be giving fresh fruit.

Other organizations helping with Santa’s Seniors are the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, Backyard Broadcasting, and the Pennsylvania State Police. The Meals on Wheels of Lycoming-Clinton County Office of Aging, STEP, Inc. will be filling and delivering the baskets to the area’s senior citizens.
