Lights of Love celebration glows gateway to Muncy

White lights glowed throughout the Muncy Valley Hospital complex as they were illuminated at once Sunday evening during the annual Lights of Love celebration.
MUNCY – The Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary hosted the 2010 Lights of Love ceremony on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the portico of the Skilled Nursing Unit. This is the 16th year for the event, and the lights honor and remember loved ones by area participants. It is a fundraiser by the Lights of Love Committee according to volunteer, Sharon Goss and the sixteenth year for the traditional fundraiser.
Brochures for the event were distributed at the information desk of the Skilled Nursing Unit and Muncy Valley Hospital to get donations. The Lights of Love contributions will go towards the support of Susquehanna Health’s Project 2012. This will include larger space for physical therapy and dining facilities at the Skilled Nursing Unit announced Christine Ballard, Vice President of operations and for renovations and expansion at the Muncy Valley Hospital.
The Resurrection Singers performed musical accompaniments to ‘Joy to the World’ and ‘Silent Night’ as others joined in for the blessing of the lights. Refreshments were served afterwards in the hospital’s cafeteria. A scroll has been placed in the lobby of the hospital with the names of the individuals being honored and remembered this year.
Committee members are Joanie Wallis and Dave Wallis, chairs, Jennie Aunkst, Jane Beachum, Betty Fisher, Sharon Goss, Bev Hall, and Tammy Sheehan.
