This year's winner of the Blueberry Muffin Contest at the 143rd Lycoming County Fair was Samantha Gstalder (far right) of Montoursville. This contest is sponsored by Green Barn Berry Farm, Montgomery. They include (l-r) Mitchell, Jarod, Margot, Mason, and Robyn. Gstalder also placed first in the PA Preferred Chocolate Cake Baking Contest, her fennel entry and also her Swiss chard.

HUGHESVILLE – The Lycoming County fair had an exhibit that wasn’t able to be seen anywhere else, blueberry muffins. “I just wanted something unique to us, something different. My goal was to promote local produce,” Deb Steransky, superintendent of the Granger Building, said on the category that is only found in Lycoming County

The contest is sponsored by Green Barn Berry Farm in Montgomery. She added that the idea of using local “farm fresh” ingredients was found throughout the baked good competitions.
