Coleman R. Wolfe received the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 26 in Hughesville at a Court of Honor on October 6. He refurbished a room in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church as seen here by constructing a wall, rewiring, installing wainscoting, drywall and painting the floor and ceiling. The room will be used as a conference center for the scouts and the church.

HUGHESVILLE – Coleman R. Wolfe, 17, Hughesville, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement rank. Coleman is a member of Boy Scout Troop 26, Hughesville. His Board of Review was held August 7, 2013, and an Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held on October 6, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hughesville, the chartering organization for Troop 26.

Don Reynolds, Scout Master of Troop 26, opened the ceremony and Aaron Bassler, Assistant Scout Master was Master of Ceremonies. Coleman’s grandfather, James Ritter, began the proceedings by playing the Star Bangled Banner. The Eagle Charge was delivered by Michael Istre, Assistant Scout Master.

Cole received many congratulatory citations during his ceremony, including certificates from the National Council of Boy Scouts of America, various State and Federal representatives, the President of the United States and Governor Corbett.

On hand for the ceremony was Chuck Smith of the Marine Corps League, and Tony Kline, representative of the Sons of Union Veterans. Cole presented his mother and father with Eagle Scout Mom and Dad pins, respectively. He also presented his grandfather with the Grandparent pin and Don Reynolds with the Mentor pin. Cole concluded the ceremony by thanking those who have helped him throughout his scouting endeavors and by stating that he has always been proud to be a scout.

Cole began his scouting career in first grade, joining Cub Scout Pack 80 as a Tiger Cub and continuously working his way through Wolf Badge, Bear Badge and Webelos, earning the highest honor in Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Light. He then continued with Boy Scout Troop 26, earning his Tenderfoot, Second and First Class, Star and Life Scout ranks. In addition, Cole has earned over 31 merit badges and has held various positions in Troop 26 including, Sr. Patrol Leader, Asst. Patrol Leader, Chaplain Aid, Scribe, Scout Instructor, Troop Guide and OA Rep. He also completed the National Youth Leadership Training program through BSA. In 2010, Cole visited the 100th Anniversary of the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, which is only held every four years.

In addition to scouting, Cole is involved in Hughesville High School Varsity Football, Student Council, Varsity Club, FBLA, SADD, Big Buddy, school musicals, AP Biology, AP English and church youth group. He is the son of Stuart and Mary Megan Wolfe, Hughesville. His father, Stuart, is the Committee Chair of Troop 26 and is also an Eagle Scout. They are only the second set of father and son to be Eagle Scouts from Troop 26. Cole plans to attend college in the fall of 2014.

According to BSA statistics, less than 2 percent of all scouts attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
