The Muncy Love Tree displays favorite valentines

By Staff | Feb 4, 2014

A Love Tree was placed in the lobby of the Muncy Post Office so that customers can write their favorite loved one's name on a heart. Left is Maggie Magagna who retired last week as Postmaster with Peg Krauter (right), supervisor and interim Postmaster. Behind her is John Fave, maintenance director who thought up the idea.

MUNCY – A sea of red greets customers at the Muncy Post Office. Red hearts filled with loved ones names can be attached to a green tree left standing from the holiday season.

John Fave, maintenance director, decided upon himself to place some cut out red hearts that he made and piled them on the lobby counter.

“Anyone can come in and take one,” he said. With a paper clip, they can attach it to the tree after writing their favorite valentine’s name on the heart. Fave placed a sign at eye level with instructions. “It’s a lot of fun,” said Peg Krauter, interim Postmaster. “It’s the first time, we have done this,” replied Fave.

Already the tree is almost full and Valentine’s day is two weeks away. “Customers really like it,” they said, and encourage others to hang a heart on the ‘Muncy Tree of Love’ before the “love” holiday.
