WHITE DEER – The Rev. Robert Berger of Hughesville posed behind a travel trunk placed to a baggage cart on the loading platform at the White Deer Station in Union County on Friday, April 25.

Since the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society was formed locally in November 1973, Berger has been a member.

More than 90 train enthusiasts from all over the United States plus local chapter members were aboard three passenger cars pulled by North Shore locomotives during the society’s annual convention hosted for the first time in the Lewisburg area.

The route stretched from Winfield to New Columbia with the group enjoying a catered lunch at the scenic White Deer Station.

This station site is open to the public Sundays during the summer months.
