MUNCY – Once again Weis market in Muncy has done some remodeling and some expansion, this time adding a drive thru pharmacy and seating for customers.

On Thursday, February 11 customers were greeted with shelves jammed full of fresh produce, grocery items, deli selections, baked goods, flowers and even beer.

Store manager, Kevin Roach said that the Muncy store is one in 40 to add a beer cafe and the only one that added a drive-thru pharmacy.

“We have also expanded our organics and added gluten free products throughout the store, and new cases were added to the deli including ‘sushi’,” he added. The location of the deli also got moved to allow room for seating of 30.

“We are basically going with the trend of a more health conscious customer and their offerings,” said Roach.

“Wi-Fi is also available,” said Leon Jaramillo, assistant store manager as the store celebrated a grand re-opening last week.

Customers can also choose from a selection of close to 700 crafted beers, with an overall variety of 900 according to Jaramillo. Some of the beers are local such as the Rusty Rail in Mifflinburg. “There are 3 or 4 local beers from the immediate area that we have here,” Roach continued. “We want this to be a one-stop convenience shopping experience from competitive pricing to the drive-thru pharmacy,” he explained.

“It’s about convenience and giving more choices to the customers, and was the logical next step,” added Dennis Curtin, Director of Public Relations for the Weis company.

Lycoming Creek Road facility has also expanded and both stores have a beer cafe and a special organic area.
