Music, God and dreams inspire local author
MUNCY – Influenced by vivid dreams, her experiences on life, and doing God’s will, Antonia Watts of Montoursville wrote two works of fiction, “My Guardian Angel” and “My Bodyguard.” She was present at the Muncy Public Library on Sunday, January 28 to help honor the library’s 80th anniversary.
Her stories border on the realm of science fiction, fantasy and romance set in gothic style with a macabre atmosphere of everlasting love between two strangers. “Writing these stories kept me from depression,” Watts said. She was laid off from her bank position at the end of 2009 and shortly thereafter, she began writing. “I would share my stories with my sister,” she said who offered her much support. “I developed my characters along the way.” Both novels were published at the same time in 2010.
She said she took creative writing in high school and her English teacher, Mr. Bower edited the two books for her. Watts would write in parts that flowed from her dreams. She said she always keeps paper by her bed and wrote all her notes by hand. “I would wake up from these dreams and start writing,” she said.
Music is her other love, and she creates original Christian metal and alternative music in her home studio. Her main collaborator is her son, she says. “My studio is also my writer’s haven during the morning hours.”
Watts’ books can be found on Amazon and a third one is in progress.
