Beckoning Cat Project offers ‘Store Next Door’

By Staff | Aug 31, 2018

The Beckoning Cat Project in Williamsport is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that depends on donations and fundraisers in order to offer low cost neutering for cats. There there is no cost to the residents of the boroughs participating in Compassionate Communities. The $25 fee is the cost to the boroughs. So far Picture Rocks and Montgomery are part of the Compassionate Communities program.

“Actually we get the money from fundraisers and from our supporters who donate during Raise the Region,” said Kerry Perry, manager and main contact for Beckoning Cat Project that was originated four years ago.

To support the Beckoning Cat Project visit the ‘Store Next Door’ at their location at 1417 E. Third Street and check out lots of “cool items” crafted from local artisans. A minimum of twenty percent is donated to help Beckoning Cat Project with their low cost spay and neuter clinic. Look for crocheted coasters, canvas nature prints, furniture and more.

“Remember the solution is to trap, neuter and return, the only method proven to be humane and effective in controlling free-roaming cats from growing into more free-roaming cats.”

Perry said she hopes to contact Hughesville and Muncy boroughs to be part of the Compassionate Communities program.
