By Staff | Nov 6, 2019

David Richards will speak about his two recently published local history books on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1 p.m. at Tivoli United Methodist Church. The event is being hosted by the Christian Ladies Group, but the everyone is encouraged to attend.

David grew up in Picture Rocks but it was a childhood trip to Gettysburg that ignited a life long interest in history. After graduating from Lycoming College with a degree in history, he moved to Gettysburg where he is a battlefield guide.

“Civil War Tales from Lycoming County and north central Pennsylvania” is a compilation of over 100 human interest stories of Civil War soldiers from this region of the state. Over 35 years of research has resulted in this book revealing remarkable tales of courage and sacrifice.

In 2017 David and Matthew Stackhouse collaborated on “From a Bygone Era/Views of the Muncy Valley” which was a book of current pictures from the Muncy-Hughesville area alongside vintage postcards showing what it looked like over 100 years ago. Now they are releasing the second volume covering the area from Picture Rocks and points north into Sullivan County.

The church is located at 9598 Rt. 220 Highway, Hughesville.
