The Muncy Luminary and Lycoming County Advertiser-Dec. 4, 1885

John Corter, the oldest citizen of Lycoming county, died at Williamsport last Thursday. Had he lived a few weeks longer he would have celebrated his 100th birthday.

Quite a number of Muncy people have received invitations to the wedding of Miss Fannie Webb, who is to be married to Mr. Charles L. Rogers, at Trinity Church, Bethlehem, on December 9th.

Miss Martha Brittain, Muncy correspondent of the Gazette and Bulletin last Thursday last for Philadelphia where she will visit William Albright and family.

The following persons from Muncy attended the wedding of Mr. Bly and Miss Nicely, at Watsontown, Thursday evening: Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Coppes, Mr. and Mrs. Artley Tallman, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bailey and daughters, Edith and Blanch.

George R. Smith, of Williamsport, under sentence for breaking and larceny; Clarence VanBuskirk, age 23, of Muncy, serving one year for burglary and larceny, and Wilbur Minnier, 26, of Hughesville, serving 6 months on an involuntary manslaughter charge, escaped from the county jail Monday night and are still at large.

Rays-About seventy-five people from Muncy attended the roast chicken dinner at the Moreland Baptist Church last Friday evening. Included in that number were Dr. and Mrs. Webb Shannon, of Milton, who were guests of Muncy friends.

Mr. Atkins and family of Muncy R. D. 3, and John Motter and family of East Penn street have moved to Montgomery. Both Mr. ATkins and Mr. Motter have employment there..

Births-To Mr. and Mrs. Wesley L. Mann, at their home on South Market street, Tuesday morning, a son, who has been named Wesley Lee, Jr.; a daughter was born early last week to Judge and Mrs. Albert W. Johnson at Lewisburg.

Deaths-None reported.

The public will have its first opportunity to see the new Muncy school projects on Nov. 20-21, when the dedication of the new elementary school is being combined with open house at the Muncy high school and Pennsdale elementary school as well.

The Wire Rope Division of Jones & Laughlin Steel corporation opened a new warehouse in Atlanta, Ga., on Monday, Nov. 17.

Personals-George Lynn Poust, son of Mr. and Mrs. DeLa Poust of Muncy is the fraternity editor of the Lycoming College campus newspaper, The Bell. Lynn is a junior in the Elementary education curriculum.

Wedding vows were exchanged by Miss Loretta Gortner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gortner, of Pennsdale, and Donald E. Enigk, on Nov. 15.
