Muncy

Steve Shoup ripped a triple and drove in four runs as Muncy opened its season with a 16-1 win over Bucktail. Tyler Barto, Matt Ring, and Tyler Daley also had doubles for the Indians.

In boys tennis, Loyalsock defeated Muncy 4-1; Muncy won two out of three singles matches and improved to 3-1 on the season with a 3-2 win over rival Hughesville. The Spartans, playing their first match of the year, got wins from Marcus Miller at No. 3 singles and by their No. 1 doubles team of Cody Butler and Randall Davis.

Hughesville

The Hughesville Spartans baseball team defeated Mifflinburg 8-3 in their season opener this past Saturday. Mike Hanner pitched six innings and struck out nine.

Spartan No. 3 singles player Marcus Miller, was the only winning player last Monday, defeating Muncy’s Ted Waddell in Hughesville’s season opener, 6-1, 6-4. The doubles team of Cody Butler and Randall Davis sealed the win. (Fry)

Travis Singer had two hits and three runs scored to lead Montoursville to a 6-5 win over Hughesville Monday in high school baseball. Hughesville had the tying run at third base to end the game.

Junior Levi Oden gave up one earned run and had six strikeouts for the Spartans.
