The Muncy Luminary and Lycoming County Advertiser-April 9, 1886

The log drive of Mr. Edward Lyon, on Muncy Creek, in charge of Mr. John Paulhamus, reached the saw mill of Mr. Lyon last Friday. It amounted to 7,000,000 feet.

It is now settled that the W. & N. B. R. R. will come to Muncy, and work undoubtedly will be begun in a few days.

The Muncy Luminary and Lycoming County Advertiser-April 12, 1906

Grover Karshner, while running a buzz planer at the Muncy Manufacturing company’s plant, cut all four fingers off his left hand on Friday last. Mr. Karshner had just accepted the position in the morning and in the afternoon the accident happened.

Work on the new Trolley Line between Muncy and Hughesville, will soon begin.

County authorities and State Police area still seeking clues that will lead to a solution of the murder of Aaron Leroy Day, a resident of Cogan House Township, who was shot while seated in the kitchen of his home. The killing was presumably done last Thursday, as the aged man was reading a Thursday morning paper when struck by the bullet.

An upset lantern caused a fire on Sunday which destroyed the barn of Donald Hess, in Fishing Creek Township, near Bloomsburg.

Rays-Miss Lois Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Desmond G. Reed, of this place, united in marriage to Mr. Eugene Paul Fahringer, of Wilkes Barre, on Monday.

Births-To Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Brant, at the Muncy Valley Private Hospital, on Easter, a son; to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Miller, of Montgomery R. D., a daughter.

Deaths-Muncy Creek Township lost one its oldest and most prominent citizens Sunday morning, in the death of Mr. J. Reed Opp.

Undefeated and virtually unchallenged, Hughesville’s tremendous Wayne Rider won the state championship at 154 pounds in the annual high school wrestling tournament at State College.

Enterprising young Gary Lambert is making a business out of his hobby. Gary raises rabbits and has a nice supply to sell for Easter gifts. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Lambert, of near Muncy.

Personals-Mr. and Mrs. Leon Lowe, of West Penn Street, will observe their 25th wedding anniversary on March 31.

The Fairfield Methodist church near Montoursville was setting for the marriage of Ruth A. Stover, of Muncy, and George R. Hall of Montoursville, on Friday, March 20.
