A project is on foot by several of Muncy’s business men to establish a manufactory in this place for the making of flour mill machinery, an enterprise which will give employment to many laborers and skilled mechanics.
The Muncy baseball team crossed bats with Montoursville nine at Montoursville, on Saturday afternoon, the game resulting in a victory for the latter by a score of 10-2.
Died: At Lewisburg, from heat exhaustion, on Thursday, July 11, Mrs. Rebecca Pettit Stoughton, in the 81st year of her age. She was the mother of Mrs. Joseph W. Albright of this place.

Rebe Merrill, of Clarkstown, on Muncy, R.D. 4 recently allowed a lot of bees to swarm on his arm. Not one stung him. Mr. Merrill is in the bee business on an extensive scale and his apiaries attract many interested visitors.
Perry M. Trumbower died at his home in this place on Saturday last, aged 79 years, 1 month and 28 days, after an illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Grover Reeder is home from East Liverpool, Ohio, where she has been staying with her husband, who is a pitcher of the base ball team of that city in the P.O. M. League.
William E. Mohr, cashier of the Citizens National Bank of this place, passed away at his home on N. Main street on Friday evening, after several weeks of illness.

Richard L. Fritz, a former Muncy boy, now with the American Car and Foundry Co, at Berwick, at present has the interesting assignment of displaying thru the south, “the Rebel, the crack scream line train of the Gulf, Mobile and Norther Railway.
Jane M. Wertman, graduate of the Muncy High School, Class of 1935 has been awarded first place in a state-wide Legion essay contest in counties having no scholarship available for competition.
Charles Blakeslee remarked to his mother Tuesday, that no one he knew had see the eclipse of the moon-and wondered whether it could have been postponed.
Born: To Mr. and Mrs. George Huntington, a daughter who has been named Anne Louse. To Mr. and Mrs. George Ebner, at the Muncy Valley Private Hospital, a son, who has been named Robert Lewis. A daughter, Mary Louise, was born to MR. and MRs. Joseph Purpuri, at the Williamsport Hospital on Sunday.
Died: Olin Allsbach, of Muncy R.D. 3, well known farmer of this vicinity, died Monday morning at 11 o’clock of a heart attack; Mrs. A. J. Whitenight died Saturday night at 9 o’clock at her home on East Water street, on the 72nd anniversary of her birth; J. R. Burkholder, aged 79, formerly of South Williamsport, and a former resident of Muncy, died at the home of his daughter, Mts. J. J. Zaun, Germantown, Saturday morning; George L. Ramer, 79-year old resident of Jersey Shore, died Saturday morning following an illness of a year and a half.
Frank H. Painter, of Jersey Shore, has been appointed assistant county superintendent of schools, to succeed George A. Ferrell, of Picture Rocks, who has tendered his resignation to County Superintendent S. B. Dunlap.

Two more teachers were hired for the 1960-61 term at the Muncy Joint Schools on Monday – Daniel Ceccoli is one of the new teachers, and he will take over the spot originally assigned to Rogers Fressenei, the former Bucknell athlete who was since accepted another position. Fred Eshhelman, who will teach vocal music as a replacement for Mrs. Richard Delsite.
When they return from a honeymoon trip to Miami, Fla., Mr. and Mr. George William Stiger Jr. will be at home to their friends on South Washington St.
Mr. and Mrs. George C. White announce the marriage of their daughter, Mildred Ann, to Frank Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Baker, of Bloomsburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stroup, Sr., of Chestnut Lawn, announce the engagement of their daughter Rosalie Ann, to Robert Lee Menges, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Lee Menges, of Turbotville.
The former Ann Elizabeth Merritt, daughter of Mrs. George E. Merritt, of Webster, and the late Mr. Merritt, and Mr. Corson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow W. Corson, were married on July 2.
The Rev. Clay Reed, of near Muncy, officiated at the wedding on July 3 at the Lairdsville Lutheran church which united in marriage Miss Alice Jean Phillips and Don Andrews.
The third annual reunion of the Picture Rocks School at Van Rensaeler Park,, was attended by approximately 140 former pupils teachers and friends on July 10.

Lambs and ewes, cows that go moo, horses, pigs and chickens too, were seen last week during the 130th Lycoming County Fair at Hughesville.
Muncy/Montgomery bridge safety questions voiced by members at more than one Muncy borough council meeting prompted The Luminary to investigate.
Fun, discipline, music and drama, learning and sharing are all mixed together as an area Christian acting league “Calvary” prepares for their summer show, Jesus Christ Superstar.
Trekking back to a place in their past were former students who had attended Eight Square School in Moreland Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Bardo Jr., Muncy, will be celebrating their fiftieth anniversary on July 21.
Our own, Mr. Cross Cutter, Marlin Wertman, strode onto Bowman Field, microphone in had, and led the crowed of 1,200 plus in a heart rendering rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” It was a masterful performance, cheered loudly by the fans.
