On Washington’s Birthday, Saturday, Feb. 22, the Muncy Band and the Fire companies will parade in the afternoon. Visitors are expected to be here from all the surrounding towns and vicinity.
The Twentieth Century Whist Club met at the home of Mr. s. charles Bodine on Saturday evening, where a pleasant time was spent, Mrs. M. M.. Fessler and W. C painter won the prizes.
On Saturday evening two sled loads of young people from williamsport drove to this place and spent a very pleasant evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. William Merrell and family.

Walter Schoch, for the past year, and a half employed at Brush, Col, arrived in town, Saturday, for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Schoch.
Mrs. Harris Spotts and two children left yesterday for Carlisle, where they will spend a month with Mr. Spotts, who is studying law at Dickinson College.
Saturday evening, Mrs. William Wallis was given a very pleasant surprise party at her home on Main street.

Miss Emma Froneck,daughter of Mrs. Charles Behm, of Weatherly, and Grant E. Stein,of Muncy, were united in marriage on Sunday afternoon in the Brick Church, by the pastor, the Rev. A. P. Bingaman.
Born: A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Benton Smith on January 31. The young man has been named Edgar Amos Smith. Mr. Smith is the driver of one of the Muncy school busses.
Deaths: Ella E. Dimm, wife of David Dimm, died at her home on Green street this morning after a long illness. She was aged 72 years; Effie Musser, aged 53, died at her home on West Water street Saturday night at midnight, after an illness of pneumonia; Fietta Ellis, aged 83 years, died at her home in Mucy Creek Township on Tuesday morning; Emma Zarr, 82, of Muncy, died on Sunday morning, Feb. 9th of pneumonia; Anna M. Lyons, died Friday evening, Feb. 7th at her home. Death was caused by complications; Walter C. Trappe, aged 60 years, a former resident of Pennsdale, died at his home on Feb. 5th.

Old man Winter, who has been jabbing with a volley of lefts and rights since early December, almost delivered the knockout punch over the weekend. Snow which measured no less than 14 inches was dumped into the West Branch Valley.
June Eileen Artley has been named the 1961 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow at Muncy High School.

A Warrior Run track star has become the third high school athlete from the area to be killed in a traffic accident this year. Deborah I. Eisenhard, 17, of Main St., died Monday night at Geisinger Medical Center, where she had been flown by helicopter after her car was struck by a conrail train at about 11:10 a.m. that day.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde H. George, Muncy have announced he engagement of their daughter, Karen Sue, to Raymond G. Dincher III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond G. Dincher Jr., Montoursville.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry W. Strouse of Muncy announce the engagement of their daughter Christine Renee to Bret Matthew Bitler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Bitler of Clarkstown.

Nella Godbey Storm and members of her eighth grade art class at Muncy High School celebrated Mardi Gras by making paper masks. Adding to the festivities the cafeteria staff prepared an authentic French lunch, while the consumer science class made bagne and German donuts.
Erin Erdman, of Muncy, is as special as the Olympics in which she has participated for 13 years. For the first time, where will compete in cross country skiing at the international level in Anchorage, Alaska, where 2100 athlete will meet.
Four area teens were involved in a motor vehicle accident on Fox Hollow Road between Opp and Exchange in Montour County, within a mile of the homes of three of the victims. Curtis L. Phillips, age 14, son of Frank Jr. and Mary Ann Morton Phillips died upon impact. His neighbor Adam Michael, age 16, suffered a broken leg and collar bone; Ryan M. Miller, 15, of Muncy was taken by Life Flight Helicopter; and Brian M. Miller, age 15 of Turbotville was treated and released.
