April 3, 1902

Frank Rupert and Frank Colley, members of the Seventy-Third U.S. Infantry, stationed at Fortress Monroe, arrived home Sunday and will spend some time with their friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris Colley gave a pleasant birthday party for their son, Myron, at their residence on Washington street, Monday evening, in honor of his 11th birthday. the evening was spent in games and other amusements, and an excellent supper was served.

Miss Rebecca Banzhaf, pleasantly entertained the members of her Sunday school class of the Lutheran church at her home on Monday evening.

Thomas Hess has purchased the property of Bert Renn, on WEst Penn Street. Mr. Renn will leave in a short time for Florida, where he will engage in truck farming.

John Rissel Schoch died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Irvin Schoch, last Friday morning, aged twenty-nine years. The deceased had been making his home in Orange, N.J., where he was employed as a druggist.

Married: Miss Milgie R. Knight and Edward R. Mulligan, both of Muncy, were married Saturday evening in the parsonage of St., John’s Lutheran Church, Williamsport, by Rev. W.F. Rentz.

Married: John Winter and Miss Pearl Garnhart were united in marriage Monday evening, at the Lutheran Parsonage, by the Rev. William F. Steck. They will go to housekeeping in their newly furnished home on Mechanic street within a few days,

Following a complete cleaning of all homes, cellars and yards in the flooded section of Muncy, and a thorough disinfecting of those places, practically all of the families driven from their homes have been able to return and resume a normal life.

Shortly after 1:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon the Keystone Hook & Ladder Company was called to the rooms next to the Muncy Banking Company, being used as Red Cross Disaster headquarters.

Born: To Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stroup on Tuesday nigh, a 7-pound boy. To Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hyde, of Williamsport, R.D., formerly of this place, on Wednesday, March 25, a 7 1/2 pound girl who has been named Jo Anne.

Announcement: I have opened a ladies’ apparel shop in the room over the R.E. McCarty Store, and will be pleased to show my friends an exquisite line of ladies’ dresses, lingerie, hosiery and accessories. Also children’s sumer dresses-Mrs. R.E. McCarty

Muncy borough council met in special session April 17 to override Mayor Anthony Rizzo’s veto of ordinance no. 400. That ordinance gives council authority to borrow $50,000 need for the purchase of the Penn Hall apartments at 46 South Main Street. Council voted unanimously in favor of the override.
