June 12, 1902

Samuel Heller and wife, of this place and the latter’s sister, Mrs. Morris Whitmire, of Canton, are in New YOrk City, the guest of Mrs. George Edwards.

T.B. Eaker and wife, and Jordan Walton and wife drove to Washingtonville on Sunday and visited Billmyer’s Game Park.

We believe it would pay some of our citizens to go and see the wonderful crop of early potatoes growing in the garden of Mr. Joe Fahrenbach on S. Main St. The tubers have outgrown the hills, and some time ago in order to keep the sun from turning them green he dug a trench with pick and shovel around each potato. The other morning he was seen with a cant hook trying to roll-them over so their further growth wold not be retarded.

Romaine Hassrick has gone to Eagles Mere, where he has secured a position in the Crestmont Inn as bell boy.

June 15, 1911

A quiet wedding took place at St. James Church at 6 o’clock this Thursday morning,when Prof. Sylvester B. Dunlap was united in marriage to Miss Fan Bodine.

Miss Fannie A. Houseknecht of this place, stenographer at Harrisburg has announced her engagement to Creighton Yeager, a resident of Harrisburg.

For the third time in six months Harold Soars is suffering from a broken arm, having fractured the member last week.

Sunday evening during the severe storm that passed over this place the house of Isaac Gortner, on New Street, was struck by lightning, knocking down the chimney.

Kenneth Ray Bieber, 12-year sold son of Mr. and Mrs. Foster Bieber, Muncy, met his death in a tragic manner, last Friday morning, while assisting with the farm work at his home near here.

Miss Janet Worthington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard K. Worthington, of West Penn Street, and Mr. Ernest H. Englehardt, Supervising Principal of the Muncy Schools, were united in marriage at a quiet ceremony on early Monday morning.

Mr. Frank W. Tule of Muncy has lately purchased the purebred Percheron Stallion, Leno 218734 from F. M. Countryman of Rochelle Ill.

Little Jean Eaker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eaker, is seriously ill of rheumatic fever.

Doe Rickholt of Muncy has invested in a new outboard motor, and has no boat. Mrs. Rickholt has purchased a new sleigh from a Turbotville dealer, and has no horse. All suggestions thankfully received.
