Henry Nelson, who is employed at Sprout, Waldron & Co.’s. plant met with a painful accident, Monday. He was loading a fly wheel on a truck when it fell on his right foot, badly crushing it.
Born: To Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lockard, on Monday morning, a son.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred L. Walton have announced the engagement of their daughter, Edythe L. to Frank S. Snyder, the wedding to take place in a few weeks.

John Smith is suffering from a very sore eye, the result of having a cinder burned into the eyeball.
Last Friday workmen employed at the rock quarry of the Keystone Paint & Filler Co., below Port Penn, came across a vein of anthracite coal. Samples were taken out and tested and showed up to the best grade burning up to a white ash.
Among the Muncy people who attended the G.A.R. picnic at Edgewood Park, Shamokin, last Thursday, were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bosser, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Young, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Younkin and Mr. and Mrs. John Ritchie.

AT its regular monthly meeting August 5, the School Board filled the vacancy in the Science and Industrial ARts Department. Mr. Delmar E. Ross of Sunbury was elected to the position.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hagerman and sons, John and Leighton, and Mrs. Walter Corson attended the swimming meet at Camp Brule Sunday afternoon.
The sixty-sixth annual exhibition of the Great Lycoming County Fair will open at Hughesivlle August 26th with a new and larger exhibit of Agricultural and home products.
Born: To Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Spaiding, Sunday, August 9th, an eleven-pound daughter;
Deaths: Mrs. Susan R. Winter, 70, died at her home at Hughesville Thursday of a sudden heart attack; Emma Gerringer, aged 58, of Carpenter street, died suddenly last Thursday morning following a stroke of paralysis.

Corey G. Snyder, 17, died as the result of a motor vehicle accident on July 21 on Route 54 in Delaware Township, Northumberland County.
Many area folks received s shock Monday night after witnessing a “ball of fire” in the sky and hearing two sonic booms.
At the Muncy Presbyterian Church this Sunday, a farewell sermon will be given by the REv. F. Leon Morgan, who with his wife Phyllis has spent 13 years shepherding the local congregation.
The Rev. Glenn McCreary has assumed duties as pastor at the Church of the Resurrection in Muncy and although he is new to his duties, he is not new to the area.
A rash of burglaries have hit are home and businesses, according to the Police Department at Hughesville, one occurred Monday evening, though they would not divulge any information as to where it happened or what was taken.
Births: Twins were born to David W. Lenhart Jr. and Jamie LYnn Fry of Pennsdale, June 30; Mr. and Mrs. Jason Sanner of Hughesville, a daughter on July 16, 2011. The mother is the former Shawna Hester.
