Nov. 6, 1902

A quite wedding took place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Houseknecht, Saturday, afternoon. The contracting parties were their daughter, Miss Jennie and Edward Snyder, of Milton.

Daniel Wonders, who is employed by the East Branch Creamery Co., met with an accident Friday afternoon. He was riding down Washington street on a bicycle when the frame gave way and he was thrown heavily to the ground. He was rendered almost senseless and was badly bruised.

Last night fire broke out in the barn in the rear of the house occupied by Rev. D.L. Wood, on N. Main street, and in a few minutes that building and a large wood house, and the barns of Mrs. Heilman, adjoining and R. F. Cornelison, across the alley were a mass of flames and soon burned to the ground.

Nov. 9, 1911

Miss May Murray, one of Muncy’s popular young ladies, went to Philadelphia on the late Reading train Friday evening, and Saturday morning accompanied by Walter Schoch, better known as “Salty” went over to Camden, N.J., where they were quietly united in marriage.

Eugene and Ben Renn and Dennis and Wilbur Lockard, of Muncy, are now at Camp Overton, Philippine Islands, with Second Cavalry.

William Guyer and family who several weeks ago moved to Tampa , Florida, have returned to Muncy where they will reside in the future.

Died: William E. Allen, 83, of Muncy, died Oct. 15; Dorothy L. Smith, 78, of Muncy, died Oct. 17; Guy E. Stiffler, 95, of Muncy, died Oct. 18; Catherine M. Bower, 78, of Picture Rocks, died Oct. 22; Sarah A. Millheim, 83, formerly of Hughesville, died Oct. 19; Carol C. Decker, 91, of Williamsport, died Oct. 17.

Mr. and Mrs. Irwin Womelsdorf celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, Saturday evening, by entertaining a number of guests at their home.

Muncy’s new grocery under the management of Elmer Barbour will open tomorrow.

Died: Mrs. Madge Slonake Neufer, 52, a former resident of this place, died Saturday morning.

Miss Linda Stein, senior at Muncy high school, and daughter of Mrs. Harry Stein, of Pennsdale, will represent the school at the Flaming Foliage in Renovo.

The Wilbur Hales moved over the weekend to the home they purchased recently from Mrs. A. D. Heyl, Mrs. Heyl has taken an apartment in the former Rosetta Montgomery home.

Muncy’s Bill Banzhaf Becomes First Sergeant at State Police Barracks in Montoursville.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burkhart will mark 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 9.

Mrs. Frank T. Fought has returned to her home in Hughesville after spending two weeks at Lake Naomi in the Pocono’s.

Births: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harper, of near Muncy, son, Christ Daugherty, Sept. 26. Mother former Sonja LeBarron; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mills, of near Hughesville, son, Dale Montague JR., Sept. 26. Mother former Vivian Stiger; Mr. and Mrs. Frederick McCarty, of Montgomery, daughter Mary Ann, Sept. 29. Mother former Kay Sherman; A/C and Mrs. John Balliet, of Portsmouth, N.H., are the parents of a daughter born on Sept. 15. The mother is the former Katie Hurr, Hughesville.

Died: Carman E. Zarr, longtime Muncy resident and operator of an independent grocery store, died suddenly Sunday evening. He was 64.

Air Force Airman Nathan A. Merrill, of Muncy, has graduated from basic military at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

The mother is the former Kimberly Wertz.
