Much of Muncy’s industries will be at a standstill next week as most of the plants will be shut down during the week beginning July 7.
Betty’s Dress Shop, a long-time Muncy retail business, will be open in a new location and under the new ownership of Mrs. Frank (Agnes) Alexander this weekend.
Lawrence Grieco, of Williamsport, on Monday, was elected as a high school chemistry teacher by the Muncy Joint school board. He will replace Bruce Miller, who left for a similar post in Montoursville.
Mrs. Adell Thomas, of Canton, announces the engagement of her daughter, Lela, to Donald W. Poust, son of Mr.and MRs. Carl Poust, of near Muncy.
Wedding vows were exchanged on June 23 by Miss Susan Lee Klepper, of near Muncy, to W. Robert Bastian of Williamsport.
Miss Doris Ditzler wed in Hughesville to Larry Gruver of Pennsdale on June 17.
Mr. and Mrs. George Freezer and sons have moved from 101 N. Second street to 113 N. Main street, into the house purchased from Mr. and Mrs. James Nuss, who are occupying their new home on Railroad street.
Byron Elder, of Picture Rocks, teacher at Overbrook School for the Blind, Philadelphia, is spending the summer with his mother, Mrs. H. B. Elder.
Died: Oscar Steele, 77, of Montgomery, died June 23; Benjamin Reaser, 12, died June 22; Tammy Lee Buck, the infant of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Buck, of near Muncy, died at birth on June 21

Area resident serving our Country: Air Force Airman Michelle O. Wright has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX.
Muncy Creek Township neighbors on Old Glad Run Road were shocked and saddened last Saturday when Stephanie Sees was apparently shot by her estranged husband, David Sees, just before he took his own life.
Local Masons are putting the finishing touches on their new building on E. Penn St., Muncy.
Feeder Calves under 500 pounds were shown by youngsters as part of the Breeder Beef and Steer Show youth division at the Lycoming County Fair.
