Mrs. Clara Rutter pleasantly entertained a few of her friends on Friday evening. The first prize won by Howard Worthington.
F. M. Weaver of near Hughesville is still pricking up Indian arrow heads on his farm. He also unearthed tow large fire pits which gives him the idea that this place was a camping ground for the aborigines.
William Weaver, the popular superintendent of the Muncy Valley House, will attend the Weaver reunion at Montoursville on Saturday.
While Harry Shaw and Saylor Lawrence were returning home from Hughesville about 2 o’clock this morning, drove their horse and buggy into a heavy truck wagon on Water street in front of Gable’s carriage shop,, throwing the young men from the buggy.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sevison and Miss Ollie and Minnie Watt returned home Friday evening from an automobile trip to Buffalo, Niagara Falls and Watkins Glen.
Stanley Gordner and Loren Harter, on Tuesday, while fishing in the river, succeeded in landing a salmon that measured 30 inches and weighted 8 pounds.
H.G. Gruver, the genial proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, is making extensive improvement to his popular hostelry. The interior is being repainted and papered and new linoleum put down on the floor.
A terrific rain and hail storm hit Eagles Mere Monday night. The rain came down in torrents and hail stones were as large as hickory nuts.

Reports from Hughesville state that the Lycoming County Fair opened yesterday with one of the largest crowds ever on the grounds.
Miss Elizabeth Marie Kerstetter and Mr. Lawrence Herlt were united in marriage last Thursday afternoon at the home of the bride’s parent. They will reside in Muncy.
Born: To Prof. and Mrs. Ernest Engelhardt, on Monday, August 23rd, a son who has been named Hans; To Mr. and Mrs. William Breneisen, on Tuesday morning, August 24th, a daughter.
Died: Abe Minier, aged 71, formerly of Unityville, died Saturday evening following a heart attack; Mrs. Sarah Catherine Day, age 79, died at the home of her brother, William Hummel on Pepper Street, on Tuesday night.

Montgomery Centennial Begins Saturday, Aug. 4
The drill team from Roland Ritter Post American Legion returned its state championship in class A state competition over the weekend by scoring 903 points.
The engagement and marriage was announced of Miss Patricia Bussom to be wed to Gary Alexander on Aug. 11.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ellis Sr., of West Water St., held a reception at their home on Saturday evening in honor of their son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. James Ellis who were married on July 21.
Thurman Wolf, Frank Casale elected as teacher coaches for Hughesville.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Miller have purchased the Carl Campbell property on N. Main St., and will move from Montgomery in the near future.

Area resident serving our country: Matt Renninger, a graduate of Hughesville High School’s class of 2000 is the son of Franklin and Denise Shoemaker of Unityville.
Gail and Mike Wood of Market Street have removed one excuse for being late for work. They live and work on the same property each with their own business. Gail moved the Alley Cat hair salon on the property in 1990 and Mike operated Woods General Repair auto repair there in 1998.
Donna and Larry Hackenberg of Unityville were among 66 vendors at the 29th annual Antique Show and Sale at the Lycoming County Fair Grounds this past weekend.
Plans are in motion for a skate park to be built where the old tennis courts are at Montgomery Park.
