Thursday, Oct. 22, 1903

Last Thursday Reib Ghors and Florence Cady were married, going to Niagara Falls on their wedding tour. The young couple is well known and their many friends wish them a long and happy life.

An electric storm visited this section on last Thursday night about 12 o’clock, the rain descended in torrents and the lightning was rapid and brilliant. An unusual occurrence for October.

Next Monday D.O. Frey will start his new dairy the “Walnut Grove” and asks for the patronage of Muncy people.

Thursday, Oct. 24, 1912

Miss Margaret Anne Stine, of this place, was united in marriage to Clifford B. Warg at the home of the bride’s parents on Thursday evening.

Mrs. Mary Butler and daughter, Miss Elizabeth left last week for Tyndale, South Dakota, where they will spend the winter with Harry Butler and family.

The Secretary of the United States Treasury on Saturday made the local camp of G.A.R. a present of some old Confederate bills, to frame and keep in the rooms as a relic. There were twelve bills aggregating in face value $175.

Thursday, Oct. 21, 1937

Thomas L. Stearns, of this place, has been named vice-president of the L.L. Stearns & Sons department store in Williamsport.

Miss Margaret Bowers, supervisor of nurses at the Muncy Valley; Hospital for the past four years, has tendered her resignation to take effect Nov. 15th.

A fire about six o’clock Saturday morning brought the Keystone Hook and Ladder Company to the rear of the W.R. Long grocery store, where a brisk blaze was burning at the rear ended of a warehouses which extends from the store to the alley between Main and Market streets.

Died: Mrs. Roy Kellick, formerly of this place, died Oct. 9; John Martin Lomison, aged 40, died Sunday afternoon of a heart attack; Walter C. Magargle, aged 73, of near White Hall, died Saturday; Mrs. Margaret Beeber, aged 50, died last Thursday; Helen Welliver Good, died suddenly last Thursday morning of a heart attack; Thomas L. Grady, of Baltimore, died Saturday at the age of 49.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. George Beilbarz, of Muncy, on Oct. 9th, a son who has been named Richard Barry.

The Muncy Area Swimming Pool fund was growing steadily, according to official reports this week, with 150 pledges of $100 received, plus a pledge from the Muncy Jaycees of $1,500.

Prospects of a new sewing factory in Muncy, to employ about 100 persons at the outset, grew strongly this week with the announcement by Glamorise Foundations, of Williamsport, that it is seeking workers in tis area to operate the necessary machines.

George I. Hawk, airman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. George N. Hawk, Muncy and Navy Lieutenant Junior grade Gene L. Bieber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bieber, of Muncy, are serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier, USS Saratoga, operating out of Mayport, Fla.

Plans told for a wedding in Connecticut on Sept. 22 of Miss Charlotte Konopka to Dr. Robert Edkin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elton B. Edkin of Hughesville.
