On Jan. 16, Charles Bodine was 51 years old, and his wife gave a dinner to a number of relatives in honor the event. It was an agreeable surprise to him.
A jolly crowd of Montgomery young folk drove to Muncy last Thursday evening and were delightfully entertained by Miss Annie Schodt at her home. An elegant supper was served.
Edward L. Ungard, of Watsontown, and Percie Dye, of this place, were united in marriage on Wednesday evening.
Born: To Mr. and Mrs., Wilbur Cuddy, on Jan. 15, a daughter.

Colonel Kurtz has resumed his position with Hoffman and Downing after a lay-off of several months with a broken leg.
Earl Buck, aged 12 years, an employee at Muir’s Tuesday night, fractured a leg by a fall on the pavement. Dr. Weigle reduced the fracture.
Mrs. Mary Dugan, who tripped on a loose board in a sidewalk in Williamsport, injuring herself, settled her claim against the city for $1,000. Mayor Stohler announcing Monday that he will sign the ordinance granting her that sum.
The Algerines, a hunting club composed of Muncy men, have purchased the Tomb and Gamble tracts, containing 160 acres, on Mount Fern, near Cedar Run, on which they will erect a $5,000 club house.
Miss Eva R. Snyder and Frank Miler, both of Muncy, were united in marriage on Jan. 16.

The marriage of Miss Jennie S. Brass, of this place, to Wilden L. Nuss of Montgomery took place on Aug. 21, 1937 at Hagerstown, Md.
A purebred Guernsey bull, Violet’s Rex of Farview 253470, was sold recently by C.A. Wright & Son of Cant to Herbert W. Nunn, of Muncy.
Miss Mabel Shoemaker of Hughesville and Larue Berger of Muncy, were united in marriage on Saturday.
Leon Michael, of the Muncy School, won the F.F.A. wood chipping contest and was awarded a new axe and a change to compete with Peter Mcleon, national champion, in a special handicap contest.
Harry Wood was recently initiated by the Beta Epsilom Sigma honorary engineering fraternity at Bucknell University.
Died: Miss Ella Irwin, aged 82, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 14; Margaret Anne Brown, 2-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brown, of this place, died Jan. 16.

Carl D. Bieber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bieber, of Muncy and husband of the former Dorothy Hemans, will graduate Jan. 17 at the mid-year commencement of Bloomsburg State College.
G. Max Brelsford, operator of the Railway Express Agency in Muncy, has assumed operation of the REA in Huntington near Altoona.

Two balloons launched during Constitution Day celebration on Sept. 17 at the Ward L. Myers Elementary School, Muncy, was recently discovered 10 miles northeast of Bangor, Maine, near the town of Hudson and Ole Town.
Miss Cindy Sue McHenry, Montgomery, became the bride of John David Lynch, Montgomery, on Dec. 19.

Area resident serving our country: Airman Edward L. Widell has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The 2002 graduate of Hughesville High School is the son of Dawn Doctor of Jersey Shore and Edward Widell, Hughesville.
John Smay was named as a new member of the Muncy School Board.
The nine foot Christmas tree found in the home of Pauline and Ray Brown, Muncy, was grown on the couple’s tree farm in Sullivan County.
