On Oct. 9, 1844, The West Branch Valley was covered with a heavy snow from three to four feet deep. The snow lasted during the entire winter.
The Little Gem Cash Store, corner Main and Water streets, Joseph McNich, proprietor, opened on Saturday evening with a large and varied stock of notions.
A large party was given at Corsons house boat Tuesday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shoemaker who left yesterday for Endeavor, Pa, where they will reside.
Squire D.W. Buffington is showing to his friends a small but genuine gold brick, the gold in which was taken from the Cochran-Hill mine in Nova Scotia, of which the Squire is a stockholder.

Thursday, Oct. 16, 1913
John Taylor, of this place, died suddenly Tuesday evening,aged 55 years, from a rupture of the heart, caused by loading heavy logs at the saw mill of W.C. Mozley on Loyalsock Creek.
Charles Bubb, while lifting a pump to place n a well in town on Saturday, dropped part of it on his foot, so badly damaging that member that he has been laid up ever since.
Harry Rogers has assumed his new position as manager of the Muncy Furniture Company.

Dr. and Mrs. Charles S. W. Rickolt returned last week from a hunting and fishing trip at St. Jovite, Quebec, Canada, where the Doctor was lucky enough to shoot a deer and a moose.
Died: Charles W. Rickolt, age 61, well known sportsman and employee of Sprout-Waldron & Company, died instantly at 9 o’clock Monday morning while at work in the shipping department of the plant where he was a fellow workman and friend of D.B. Taggart, who died a week ago; Dietrick Lamade, 79-year old publisher of the Grit, civic leader and philanthropist of Williamsport, died Sunday morning after a short illness. Death was due to pneumonia; Henry Hill, 80, died last Thursday morning where at Williamsport Hospital where he had been a patient since Sept. 5; Richard Charles Wilt, three and a half year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilt, of Montgomery, died Wednesday night, Oct. 5, three hours after being admitted seriously ill with pneumococcic meningitis; Catherine Lutz, 71, died last Saturday afternoon.

A speed trap will be established in Muncy Borough within the next few days, according to a plan adopted by Muncy Borough Council.
Two inmates of the State Correctional Institution at Muncy escaped Friday but were picked up the same night, cold and tired, as they walked along the railroad near Sylvan Dell.
J.E. McCloskey of Montoursville,has leased the Texaco Service Station at Main and Mechanic streets, Muncy.
Zane Laubach, of Watsontown, won the fiddlers contest, with William Mummey of Hughesville, placing second, and Mrs. Ethel Crockett, of Shickshinny, third, at Trout Pond Park.
Then engagement of Miss Linda Mae Maurer to Glenn H. Lynn was recently announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Maurer Sr., of Muncy.
C. Daniel Little, of Picture Rocks, has been named to the faculty of Lycoming college for the 1963-64 term and will be an instructor in political science.
