Thursday, Nov. 10, 1904

It is reported that Daniel Updegraff and son, John, have thus far caught this season between 12,000 and 15,000 eels in the Susquehanna River.

On Oct. 31, Heberline and Gortner threshed the oats and wheat grown on the Fred Blue farm at Port Penn. From eight acres 417 bushels of oats and from nine acres, 220 bushels of wheat were cleaned up.

A double surprise party was given for Joseph Grange last Thursday in honor of his 44th birthday and his little son Lester’s 14th birthday. Mr. Grange was presented a handsome rocker and his son Lester was the recipient of several very acceptable gifts.

Thursday, Nov. 10, 1913

A pretty wedding was solemnized last Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln McCarty in Hughesville, when their daughter, Trella Ann, was united in marriage to Mr. Lee Hammond Blair of this place.

A hunting party, composed of Grant Leiser, A. Houseknecht of this place, and William S. Opp, of Opp, and Mr. Savage, of Turbotville, returned to this place on Wednesday from Elimsport, where Mr. Leiser shot two black bears, while out after deer.

Thursday, Nov. 10, 1938

Friends of Mrs. Godfrey who formerly resided on North Market street, now living on R.D. 1, Tunkhannock, Pa., were indeed sorry just recently to learn that she had suffered the misfortune of fracturing her hip.

Announcement has been made by Mrs. Edna Bordinger, of Williamsport, of the marriage of her daughter, Miss Beatrice Lorene Guinter, to G. Max Brelsford, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brelsford, of Muncy. The marriage took place Oct. 3rd, 1938, at Rockville, Md.

Died: Mrs. Julia A. Schmoyer, Williamsport, died last Thursday at her home; Mrs. Mary Reeder Hill Smith, died at her home on Penn street; Word has been received at Picture Rocks of the death of J. Page Laughlin, 62, at his winter home at Mount Dora, Fla.

The Pennsdale United Methodist Church held its annual bazaar last weekend boasting baked good, crafts, entertainment, jams and jellies. Having fun there were Esther Tallman and her grandson, Tyler Mensch.

The big news at the Kellogg’s plant in the Industrial Park in Muncy is the 140,000 square feet of expansion planned for the near future and the new product line that will create 180 jobs for area people.

On Sept. 10 Melissa Ann Hiltz, of Hughesville, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard W. Hiltz, of Muncy, became the bride of Roger Eugene Cole, son of Dale Robbins, of Lairdsville and Roger cole, of Hughesville.

Mr. and Mrs. Karl McCloskey and Mr. and Mrs. William Aunkst, of Muncy, were honored at a lawn party, Sept. 11, given by their children.

Daphne Ross, recently appointed as middle and senior high school principal by the Montgomery Area School District.

Janet Schultz, manager of the Hughesville office of Muncy Bank & Trust Company presented a $5,000 donation to Chief Steve Stiger and Scott Aderhold, president of the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Company, for the building fund of a new facility for housing all of their apparatus and equipment.
