Thursday, Dec. 8, 1904

Rev. and Mrs. W.F. Steck, last Friday evening entertained Mr. and Mrs. Hammond Michael and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hoffman, at a pleasant dinner.

On last Saturday B. Frank Merrill received legal papers from the court at Williamsport for adoption of Helen Elizabeth Garnhart, minor child of George Garnhart and his wife Maude, lately deceased.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heebner, of Philadelphia, have announced the engagement of their daughter to Miss Eleanor, to Mr. Bedford.

French, of Pasadena, California, and Emily Rogers is mourning the death of her pet dog, “Bonito”, who died last Friday of old age. She was fifteen years old. She and Susanna Tule are keeping her grave covered with flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Woodward and granddaughter, Coral, have arrived here from North Syracuse, N.Y. and moved into the property they lately purchased on Green street.

About fifty members of the Future Farmers of America, and guests enjoyed a splendid venison banquet, and program, at the Ritz Wire Rope Cafeteria, Wednesday evening. The meal was prepared and served by Mr. Don O’Connor, proprietor of the Ritz Restaurant.

An order which affects 367,000 customers throughout the 29 counties in which the Pennsylvania Power &LIght Company operates, has been issued by the PUblic Utility Commission, reducing rates and eliminating 100 different rate schedules.

Died: Mrs. Margaret Roshon, age 75, died Dec. 1; Mrs. Mary Bieber, a native of this placed died Monday evening; Mrs. Elizabeth E. Browlee, 79, died at her home in Jersey Shore Monday night; M.J. Anthony, aged 78, died at his home on WEst Water street WEdnesday afternoon, after several weeks’ illness; Mrs. Margaret E. Leiby, age 65, died suddenly Tuesday evening at her home on North Market street.

Nov. 28, 1963

A community saddened, as is the entire world, by the death of President Kennedy, will observe a sombre Thanksgiving on Nov. 28.

Clinton D. Cooper will retire effective Dec. 1 from Lycoming Division of Avco Manufacturing company in Williamsport after 35 years of continuous employment.

Jack Michael, just recently reelected as chief of the Picture Rocks volunteer fire company, has been named as the first president of Muncy Area Mutual Aid.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walters, Hughesville, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Nancy Walters, to David Lee Voneida, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. LeRoy Voneida, also of Hughesville.

Births: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Derr, Turbotville, a son, Nov. 24. Mother former Edna Simon; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Woodside, Muncy, a son, Nov. 25. Mother former Helen Helvly.

Died: William Edgeworth, 63, Muncy, died Nov. 20; Herbert McClure, 74, a Muncy native, died Sunday; Faith Courson Bennett, 68, died Nov. 21; Larue L. West, 52, Picture Rocks, died Nov. 25; One-year old Jill Louise Miller, Montgomery, died Nov. 23, after an illness of one week.

The Rev. Michael R. Gardy, pastor of Muncy First United Methodist Church, marked 25 years in ministry this year and was honored at a surprise celebration worship service and reception on Oct. 26.

Three borough workers busily rake and remove leaves on Tuesday morning using the borough’s newest investment in leaf removal systems.

Surprised, honored, excited is the way Amy Rogers, of Hughesville, felt when she was told she had been named WBRE-TVs teacher of the month.
