Thursday, Feb. 9, 1905

On Wednesday Frank Sevison, the Gentlemen’s Tailor, purchased of P.E. Kramer his property on North Main street, and will take possession on March 1.

Arthur Van Tyle announced his marriage to Miss Mae Barbour, at Waverly, N.Y., last July 12, 1904. They will reside in Scranton.

Thursday, Feb. 5, 1914

Samuel Sedam and family, of “Mingo Farm,” north of town, will move to Muncy n the near future where they will make their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ritter, Mrs. Nathan Hess, Mrs. David Garnhart and Samuel Sedam attended the funeral of John Piatt at Montgomery, on Monday.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 1939

Died: Charlotte Tallman, 89, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Waltz, Montoursville, R.D., Fairfield Township at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, following a week’s illness of pneumonia; Rebecca Stout, 88, formerly of Berwick, died 11:55 Wednesday, February 8, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.B. Fairchild, Muncy. She had been ill about six weeks.

The toboggan slides at Eagles Mere are in fine condition and are doing a land office business.

M.R. Bennett, of Glade Run, was a caller at the Luminary office yesterday. MR. Bennett said that the road past his home is badly in need of improvement, being almost impassable at times.

Jan. 30, 1964

H. Marshall Soars, Jr., of Muncy, is the recipient of U.S. patent titled “Pellet Mill”, issued Jan. 14.

A colossal ice jam, 250 yards of sheet ice from the river mouth in, coupled with three-quarters of an inch of rain and considerable snow melt was too much for Muncy Creek which broke over its bank on Jan. 25.

Miss Elayne Myers and Clark R. Spring, Muncy will be married in Harrisburg on Feb. 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holtzapple and children will move soon to the apartment at the rear of 420 Market Street.

Mrs. Ethel Schultz, Picture Rocks, is leaving this week to visit her sister at Sarasota, Fla.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Eddy entertained at their home for the third birthday anniversary of their daughter, Schawanna.

Muncy student Urie Kline became the National Geographic’s Geography Bee School champion and Jordan Monroe earned the honor of first runner-up during an assembly held in the high school auditorium.

Walking sticks constructed by Muncy resident Paul Kisner are to aid people in walking, but for the Fellowship of Christian Farmers International, their initial purpose is as a tool for delivering a message.
