Thursday, June 8, 1905

The annual Commencement of the Drexel Institute at PHiladelphia, took place on June 8. Miss Madge Rogers of this place was one of the graduates.

Prof. Harris A. Spotts was re-elected principal of the Muncy schools with an advance in salary of $10 a month, at the annual school board Monday evening.

A change will be made very shortly in the management of Thornton Walker’s barber shop. In the meantime the shop will be repainted and papered, and will present a very handsome appearance within the various improvements are finished.

The young men of Muncy’s 3 wards, who are of the selective draft age, held a patriotic demonstration on the eve of registration day. After the demonstration the band rendered a short concert on the square. The patriotic selections were heartily cheered. There are no slackers in Muncy.

On June 2, Clarence Hall of Muncy and Miss Lillian Tripp of Renovo were united in marriage.

Registration figures in Muncy’s three wards exceed the number as taken from the assessor’s books by 32. Muncy was credited with 117 young men of draft age, but when the polls closed a total of 149 had registered.

Jacob F. Murray, well-known business man, has purchased the garage building and business of the Wolf Motor Company, on North Main Street, and will continue to operate as the authorized Ford dealer.

Ruth P. Foust became the bride of M. Milton Hoffman on Sunday.

The royal blue and silver special, bearing their majesties King George and Queen Elizabeth of England, from Niagara Falls N.Y. to Washington, D.C., passed through Muncy Station on the PA Railroad about 6:45 (D.S.T.) this morning as was seen by occupants of twenty-five or thirty cars who motored across the river bridge and parked along the highway to watch for the special.

Miss Eva Green of Nordmont and Luther Rothfuss of his place, were united in marriage on June 1.

Miss Irene Shook of Muncy, and Forest Bubb, of Newberry, were united in marriage on May 27.

Elwood Parsons has been named Valedictorian of the Class of 1964 at East Lycoming high school.

Memorial services held at Muncy cemetery on Monday featured a presentation by Monica Koss, a junior at Muncy High School.

Cybil Harriman, Charlotte Peeling, and Grace Housel, members of the Muncy Garden Cub, braved the rain last Saturday morning and spruced up the R.J. Patrizio Pool with flowers.
