Monday was a red letter day for births in this section, the following having been reported: To Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McCarty of Glade Run, twin boys; to Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCarty, a son; to Mr. and Mrs. Philip Sprout, a daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pass, a daughter.
Miss Elizabeth Sheddy and Mazie Brass are taking a three weeks visit to relatives at Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
Miss Rosetta Montgomery has returned from South Hadley, Mass., where she attended commencement exercise at Mt. Holyoke College. Miss Montgomery is a graduate of that college.

The Boys’ Athletic Club is now uniformed and with their guns certainly present a fine appearance. They are well drilled, too., for Drillman Eugene Renn has them out nearly every evening, putting them through the manual of arms.
The Lycoming Rubber Company in Williamsport now employs over 1,300 people and the daily output of rubber shoes total 25,000 pairs.
This is “recruiting week” for the regular army and Lycoming County’s quota is sixty-six man. The quota for the state is 7,000 men.

Headline: Poison Kills Thousands of River Fish-Pollution From Mine Waters Said to Come From Upper Sources of West Branch
Engagement announced of Rose Tallman, Montgomery, to Fred J. Corson of South Williamsport.
A cargo of beer was damaged to the extent of $1,000 and the trailer truck which carried it about $2,500 when it struck an abutment about six miles east of Muncy.
A fire of unknown origin at Montgomery Monday night, caused a $7,000 loss at the Page Upholstery Shop, owned by Lester Page.
George A. Winters, 24, a WPA worker, of Mill Hall R.D., who was killed by a gun shot wound on June 21st, was a former resident of Muncy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Winters, and grandson of George Winters, an employee of The Muncy Luminary for many years.
Died:Mrs. Blanche G. Ebner, 62, passed away on Sunday; Mrs. Rosa Goldy, 63, Muncy, died on Thursday morning, June 22.

William D. Higgins, French instructor in the Muncy schools for the past five years and head basketball coach for the last two seasons, has resigned his position here.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Stine have purchased the residence at 227 West Penn Street, Muncy, known as the Sheridan homestead, and most recently occupied by the Paul Geringer family.
Well-deserved recognition came to Dr. W.E. Turner, veteran Montgomery physician, when he was one of three county men honored by the Lycoming Medical Society last Friday for 50 years of service in medicine.
Miss Sally Koziol and Mr. Jack Sherman were wed on June 6.
Miss Joyce McCarty , Muncy, became the bride of Mr. Kenneth Sullenberger, Williamsport, on June 6.
Miss Mary Ellen Huffman, Hughesville, became the bride of Kenneth McClemons, Muncy, on June 20.

Earl W. Killer, valedictorian of the Class of 1940, Hughesville high school, has been admitted to the Academic Hall of Fame.
Jamie Lynn Bennett, age 7, daughter of Kenneth and Mary Bennett of Montgomery, as been accepted as a state finalist in the Miss PA American Princess Pageant.
