William Updegraff, who resides along the bank of the Susquehanna River near Muncy dam, has mysteriously disappeared and his relatives are exercised as to his fate. They have grave suspicions that he may have been murdered and his body thrown into the river.
William J. Denterly left on Monday for South Williamsport, where he will teach school in the Mountain Avenue building
Mrs. Chas. Funkle, of Morganville, N.Y. , was summoned home the past week on account of the serious illness of her mother, Mrs. Mary Hitesman.

Harper Dykins, a member of Batter D in Williamsport, walks to that place nearly every day, from Muncy, where he spends the night. Harper says that the walk does him good, and helps put in the time too, for the routine work at the armory is becoming extremely monotonous.
Frank Fahnestock, of the Muncy Opera House, and Capt. W.C. Ebner, the grocer, attended the annual boatman’s reunion at Rolling Green Park, Sunbury, last Saturday.
David Crawford, who has been attending the U.S. Naval Academy, at Annapolis, Md., and for some time past has been a first class midshipman on the U.S.S. Nebraska, is the guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm., Crawford.

E.P. Bertin, former Muncy Principal, will join the staff of the Mansfield State Teachers College as instructor in education and psychology at the opening of the term Sept. 12.
Management of the Carroll Beauty Salon has been taken over by C.J. Muffly, formerly with the Reilley Beauty Shop in Williamsport.
The Ritz Garden Restaurant, it is reported, will be under new management, effective Friday,. Mr. Jack Smith, an enterprising employe of the former owner, is to be the proprietor.
Died: G.B. McClellan Breech, 76, Williamsport.
