Thursday, Nov. 15, 1917

Mrs. E.E. Dietrick was struck and instantly killed by a westbound Philadelphia and Reading passenger rain at noon Tuesday, near Saegers. She was 50 years of age.

Born: To Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Taylor on Sunday, a daughter; to Dr. and Mrs. John M. Banzhaf, of Germantown on Saturday, a daughter.

Harry S. Funk has just received his commission as lieutenant in the Russian railway service from the President and left for Seattle on Friday from which port he sails for Russia.

Ruth’s Dress Shop will move into its new location in the room formerly occupied by the Muncy Candy Company in the West Branch Bell Telephone Company building, Main street.

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gardner entertained at heir home on Monday evening a number of friends in honor of Miss Irene Hilner’s 17th birthday anniversary.

Funeral services for Hyman H. App, 88, whose death occurred Tuesday morning at the home of his son, G. Raymond App, East Muncy, were held yesterday.

It was a “blue Monday” when we learned early this week of the impending departure of Robert Cannon, The administrator at Muncy Valley Hospital, and Mrs. Cannon.

“Looking Glass Fashions” for the fall and winter of 1964 will be presented at the fashion show sponsored by the Muncy VAlley Hospital auxiliaries on Oct. 7.

Harvey F. Corson, of near Muncy, has just returned from a successful 21-day hunt in Northern Yukon.

Mrs. Frank Sheets, Mrs. LeRoy Sullivan Sr., of Hughesville, Mrs. Ocy Sheets, of Point Bethel, and Mrs. Pearl Danley, of Tivoli, spent a few days at Niagara Falls.

Announcement has been made of the marriage on Sept. 5 of Mary Foster and Dr. Wallace M. Maurer, a former member of the Muncy High School faculty who served her as instructor in vocational arts and wrestling coach
